Image question

Dear colleague,

Why is the pupil distorted in this image after vitreolysis in this image https://eyewiki.org/w/images/1/thumb/5/58/Final.JPG/900px-Final.JPG?

Was there any surgical trauma to the pupillary margin?

Thanks, Dr Koushik

Image answer

Dear colleague,

There was no surgical trauma in the pupillary margin.

I believe that the distorted pupil is still due to the prolapse of the vitreous to the anterior chamber even if it is no longer encarcerated in the corneal incision. There might be pushing effect still present so near the post-vitreolysis period.
