Anterior Segment Trauma: Evaluation, Considerations and Initial Management

The anterior segment of the eye is continually exposed to minute trauma throughout the normal day. The precorneal tear film, corneal epithelium and conjunctival epithelium provide protection against this continual mild trauma; however, significant trauma can occur which requires ophthalmic examination and treatment. This article discusses anterior segment trauma, how to evaluate it, and initial considerations in its management.
