Help:Contests
EyeWiki allows creating article contests. Usually, a contest is one year long and has a deadline for article submittance.
Open contests are shown on an article page, providing readers with:
- Enroll Button
- Enrollment History link
- Contest Index link
- Contest Rules link
- Contest Deadline date label
Enroll Button
Any article can be submitted by any user to any of currently active contests by a click on the Enroll button. The contest entry will be created automatically[1] and the article will appear on the Contest index page. The Enroll Button turns blue and becomes inactive for the user who has submitted the article to this year contest. It doesn't restrict the ability to submit this article to the same contest next year, or to the other contests, or to this year contest by other users.
Enrollment History
If an article has been submitted to any contest at least once, the "Contest entries for this page" link will appear at the top of the article. Clicking the link will bring users to a list of all Contest entries for the current article.
Contest Index
Contest index contains the list of articles submitted to this year contest. The list is built automatically. To create the Contest index for the given year, use the form input on the Contest Home page.
Contest Home
The list of all Contest indexes for a given contest by years can be seen on the Contest Home page, as well as a form input for creation of Contest indexes for other years.
- Note for admins
- To start a completely new contest, add the name of contest to the list of the allowed values on Property:Contest name. Upon saving the property page, you will be provided with a link for the Contest Home page creation. The necessary content will be preloaded. Just save the page and start adding Contest indexes by year.
Contest Rules
Contest rules can vary from year to year, so you can set the name of the contest rules page when creating a Contest index.
Notes
- ↑ Content entries are created in a separate namespace using the following page name format:
Contest:{Contest name}/{Contest year}/{Submitter username}/{Article name}
.
