Low power (10x Magnification) H & E stain of entire cornea. This histological slide illustrates anterior stromal interlamellar aggregates of gram positive cocci with little surrounding inflammatory infiltrate. Additionally, the presence of a full penetrating keratoplasty graft is visible within this low power view further illustrating the tendency of ICK to affect corneas that have undergone PKP. The presence of a remaining suture within the tissue is additionally demonstrated. Pathology slide provided by Amy Maltry MD.
