Within the lymph node (priming phase): Dendritic cell-T cell interaction with self-antigen presented (immune checkpoint) – the major histocompatibility complex- T cell receptor complex and the B7/CD28 complex provide activation signals to activate the T cell, but the Cytotoxic T lymphocyte Antigen 4 (CTLA-4)/B7 complex inhibits the activation so the T cell is not activated.
