Most cases of pentosan polysulfate maculopathy that involve the peripapillary retina, demonstrate a hypoautofluorescent peripapillary ring (A). The autofluorescent signal is spared in many inherited macular dystrophies such as this dominant macular dystrophy associated with a variant of unknown significance in the ELOVL4 gene (B), another macular dystrophy associated with a disease-causing PRPH2 variant (C), and two disease-causing ABCA4 variants (D).
