Soemmering's Ring in eye with ACIOL

A Soemmering's ring is a deposition of retained equatorial lens epithelial cells that continue to proliferate and form new cortical fibers that create a ring of cortical fibers between the posterior lens capsule and the edges of the anterior capsule remnant that typically occurs after lens extraction.

Clinical diagnosis

Soemmering's Ring with Elschnig's Pearls in eye with ACIOL

Can be directly visualized by slit lamp biomicroscopy if Soemmering Ring's content is beyond pupillary border or protruding into anterior chamber.
